Luna Petagine

In Aug 2008 Luna, a beautiful little girl age 18 months was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Her and her families world came crashing down and life would never be the same.

After 13 hours of life threatening surgery, a year of chemo and then radio theraphy which was all so hard on her frail body she almost died several times. The treatment was harming her more than the tumour alone but there was no choice but to carry on, it was her only chance to survive, and doctors thought she was almost there. Earlier this year Luna underwent gruelling brain surgery on 3 more occasions. Each time her family were told of the dangers and risks to her life and long term damage but still we prayed that she would pull through and at last be free from this disease. And she did pull through and to the amazement of the staff at GOSH she recovered fully and quicky.

We were so excited and dared to dream about the future I even imagined what she would look like in her 'big school' uniorm. Something I daren't ever do before.

We went to GOSH for our post op scan 3 weeks ago only to be told the disease was back already and had spread like a film over her scar tissue, was not surgically removable and therefore there was nothing more they could do for her.

Rather than give up as GOSH suggested we have spent hours on the net and phone and have discovered a treatment in the US which could save our little girls life. It does however come at a cost. The treatment will cost £100000.00 money we are desperately need to raise and fast as we don't know how long we have got with her.

Throughout the whole of Luna's treatment she has continued to smile and fight whatever has been thrown at her and has never given up so we are not about to give up on her.
